Gift of Smiles

logo-image Gift of Smiles is a free dental day held at our office to provide dental care to those who other wise are not able to regularly afford or receive such care. Our office is serving patients through the help and support of Sound to Harbor Head Start. Head Start provides low-income children an environment to develop their cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Head Start will be scheduling the children and families they work with to receive care during our Gift of Smiles effort. Our team is excited to partner with and support this organization.

About Sound to Harbor Head Start:
“Head Start is a federally funded program that serves children ages three to five who live in poverty, are homeless, are in foster care, or have a disability. ECEAP is a state funded program serving the same low-income population.

The purpose of Head Start and ECEAP is to promote their school readiness by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. The high quality learning environment provided by Head Start and ECEAP supports children’s growth in language and literacy; cognition and general knowledge; physical development and health; social and emotional learning; and approaches to learning.” – From Sound to Harbor Head Start

Smiles for Veterans

Smiles Dental is honoring our veterans with the gift of good health during the month of November. The dental practice invites community members in location to nominate a veteran to receive up to $3000 toward their dental treatment plan.

Our nomination period for Smiles for Veterans 2016 is now closed. Thank you to all who submitted nominations!

According to the United States Department of Veteran Affairs , as of September 30, 2015 there were 598,000 veterans in Washington State. Of these, approximately 128,240 unique patients received healthcare at a VA health care facility. The Center for Disease Control shows the number of American adults in 2014, ages 18-64, with a dental visit in the past year was approximately 62%. The same study by the CDC shows around 20% of American adults have no usual source of healthcare and that 11% did not receive needed dental care due to cost.
